tuesday remix: sister style

hey, all! how is everyone??? i know you didn't ask, but let me tell you how i am. i am so excited! i am counting down the days until friday. why, you ask? megan and i have tickets to NKOTBSB! that's right. don't be too jealous. seriously. every time i think about it i get butterflies! how lame am i? i must admit, i have never been much of a backstreet boys fan. they're fine and all, but new kids on the block? yeah. they have been my boyfriends since, like, the fifth grade. especially donnie. i heart donnie. i never got to see them live in the late 80s/early 90s (when donnie and i first fell in love). once, in sixth grade, a girl in my class told me and all the other girls that her dad had bought us all new kids tickets and backstage passes and that we were all going. and guess what? it turned out to be lies, all lies i say! imagine the heartbreak. but now is my chance! i feel like i am twelve years old again, reading all about the new kids in the latest teen beat magazine and wondering where donnnie and i will go on our first date.

oh man, this concert is going to make me very nostalgic. now the only question is, what am i going to wear? but more on that later. okay, now that you have learned that i am a little crazy (in case you hadn't already figured that out), let's take a look at the remix...

this week's item is a navy blue, vintage blouse with a tie neck. i recently scored it at savers' half-off fourth of july sale. i haven't had a chance to really wear it yet, so i wanted to give it a try and also see what megan would do with it. i must say, i am pretty inspired having seen her ensemble. i think i will get a lot of wear out of this top. especially when the weather starts to cool off a bit (which, hopefully, will not be any time soon)! let us know what you think of our remix!

tuesday remix: sister style

after our fourth of july celebration, i was so full of potato salad, red, white and blue salad (perhaps megan will share the recipe. super easy and surprisingly yummy!), soy hot dogs and vodka lemonades that i could barely think straight. that must mean it was a good day! most of the family met up on megan's patio yesterday to celebrate the fourth and really just to hang out. i always have the best time with my sisters and their hubbies and kiddos. we always eat too much and laugh too hard (if laughing too hard is even possible. i think not). so much fun. i am so sad for the long weekend to come to an end. but at least a long weekend means a short work week!

this week's remix item was megan's choice again. (i promise to pick the next two weeks, megan)! it is a super cute tank that megan scored at a garage sale. i absolutely love the adorable bow detail! it is a fun top that may just stay in my closet a bit longer before i return it...shhhh...that'll be our little secret...

tuesday remix: sister style

i am sitting here trying to think of some fun story or clever quip before i show you the remix, and i am coming up blank. my brain is tired. this weekend was tons of fun...perhaps too much fun. now my brain needs time to recover. what? it's tuesday, you say? yes, my brain needs at least three days recovery time. i should be back up and running by tomorrow! but you didn't come here to listen to me blabber on anyway...let's check out the remix!

this week megan chose this super cute dress/skirt that she got at marshalls. it was the perfect dress for me to wear yesterday. i had mimi, plus megan's lovely kiddos, so this was the perfect dress to throw on and go go go! plus, it was warm and breezy out, which is exactly how i would describe this dress. i just love it. and the bonus??? megan told me i could keep it! what??? i don't know what she is thinking giving me all her cute stuff, but i am most definitely not going to argue or try and talk her out of it. i'll just be thankful for having such a kind and generous (and perhaps a bit crazy) sister.

hello, all. happy tuesday! i blogged this while watching sunday night's "game of thrones". holy crap! does anyone else watch this show? so good. i have not read the books, but the show is pretty amazing. great acting, interesting storylines, crazy plot twists. check it out. why must this be the last episode of the season???

anyway, you probably didn't come here to listen to be jabber on about "game of thrones". it's remix time! this week i chose a recent h&m purchase. it is a navy blue cropped shirt with cream polka dots. i am crazy for anything navy blue. and polka dots? love 'em. and the loose fit and lightweight fabric is just my style. and it was less than $10. so, this was an obvious buy for me. it really is very versatile and i can picture it styled many ways. i was super excited to see how megan would wear it and i must say, i am very inspired by her styling...super cute! you might just see me in her exact outfit someday! let us know...would you wear this shirt? how would you style it? here's is how we wore it...

tuesday remix: sister style

it was a busy day yesterday! i babysat two of my nephews and one of my nieces for most of the day! plus, obviously, i had amelia. it was actually a lot easier than it sounds, and a ton of fun! they all kind of entertained one another. and my niece, emma, who is ten (going on sixteen), loves to hang out and watch over amelia. and amelia really gets a kick out of her. she just laughs and laughs when emma is around. so we just hung out at the park all morning and played. had some lunch. played out in my yard. all in all, a really fun day. although i still don't know how parents of that many kids do it every day! it must be so tiring! but it was good practice! i love those kids...

anyway, we are supposed to be talking about the remix. megan chose the item this week and it is a fun one. it is a super cute, stripe-y, flower-y, colorblock-y top from forever 21. i love the colors. when i saw the top i had so many ideas of how to style it. it is just a nice piece that can be paired many different ways. and we each wore it very differently, which is the fun of the remix, right??? let us know what you think!

tuesday remix: sister style

peekaboo! 

two birds here, playing the remix game again. we took our remix photos this weekend at our mom and dad's house (everyone was laughing at us for showing up in the same skirt). they have this cool, giant garden in their backyard that made for a very pretty backdrop. we were there to celebrate our lovely big sister, carrie's, birthday. it was so much fun. every time i hang out with my whole family i just leave happy. they are seriously the coolest family a couple of birds could ask for. we ate copious amounts of mexican food cooked by my mother, who is the best cook i know (followed closely by megan bird). and my dad made me the strongest martini! after two sips i was dancing around like a crazy woman. luckily we took these pictures before all of that occurred...anyway, before we took our outfit photos, my hubby was nice enough to take some photos of megan and i together, being dorky, as usual. two little birds, sitting in a tree...

this week's item was a cute little cotton mini skirt that we both happened to purchase at forever 21 (while we were out shopping for carrie's birthday gifts). it is super colorful and airy and fun. the perfect summer skirt! and here is how we both styled it...let us know what you think!!!

tuesday remix: sister style

you know how i told you my baby girl was feeling a bit under the weather? we have had a few sleepless nights at our house this weekend. and yesterday, instead of the bbq we were supposed to attend with my sister in law and her boyfriend, we spent the afternoon in urgent care. it turns out mimi has a really bad ear infection...the worst one the doc had seen all day. poor little baby girl. i feel so bad for her. the doctor told me to expect another sleepless night. luckily he was mostly wrong. she only got up twice last night, and the first time was before i had yet gone to bed. the second time was just to give her some meds (which took some effort! imagine a squirming baby with tightly pursed lips, tears streaming, and her head turning every which direction to avoid said medicine.) and she went right back to sleep. phew! hopefully this means she is beginning to feel better!

anyway, let's talk remix. this week's item is a silence + noise shirt i bought at urban outfitters years ago (2008, if i remember correctly). it wasn't a style i would normally wear, but it was on sale and i thought it was just really cool. perhaps too cool for me as it has been sitting in my closet, unworn, since then. so pathetic. i hate when i do that. i broke it out for the remix to see if i could make it work...and i was also so curious to see how megan might style it. turns out i really like this shirt. it's not really an everyday, throw on and run errands type of item. but i could definitely see it dressed down for a summer bbq with friends or fancied up for girl's night out. i think i will keep it and try and incorporate it into some outfits this summer. and if i don't, it's gone for good. i promise!

tuesday remix: sister style

okay. i am admitting it. the remix has been overwhelming me as of late. i feel like there is never enough time and never enough clothes in my closet. every monday i had to figure out what three outfits i would be wearing, set up the camera and tripod, take a bunch of photos of each outfit, do outfit changes, upload and edit the photos, and write the post. and this is all while my baby is napping. and honestly, i was running out of clothes. i mean don't get me wrong, i have a ton of clothes. but i just felt like i was using the same pieces over and over and becoming a bit uninspired. it was just becoming not as fun anymore. and i am all about having fun. i feel almost silly even writing this because, i know, people have way worse problems (oh, poor nora, can't find an outfit to wear! boo hoo!). but this was just extra stress that was getting to me. so, of course, megan bird had a great idea (megan bird to the rescue!!!). each week either she or i will pick one item from our wardrobe and we'll both remix it. just one outfit each. so, there will still be a tuesday remix (i really didn't want to stop doing it). and, as a bonus, you will now get to see megan's lovely face and mad styling skills here every week! and i will be a lot less overwhelmed! yay! okay, enough of my babbling. i hope you all enjoy our first edition of the new and improved tuesday remix!!!
