in honor of the man in black

every year i attend one of best musical events in minneapolis. (in my opinion, at least!) the Cabooze hosts a number of bands who all put on a wonderful tribute to johnny cash. this year, the bands featured were Six Mile GroveWhite Iron Band (big crush on the lead singer), the famously local Trailer Trash, and the headliner, Sherwin Linton . sherwin thinks he's johnny cash, and does a pretty good job of acting like him...from the long black duster to the low country twang. he even starts off with, "hello, i'm johnny cash".

needless to say, it's a great show and i have fun every single year.

yep, i rock it out!

so, here are a few of my favorite fashion pieces in johnny's favorite color...

sequin butterfly dress
vintage inspired dress
purl knit sweater
sparkle & fade shirtdress
military ruffle cardi
secretary dress
sequined cocktail dress
fringe lace-up booties
bib necklace
well, you wonder why I always dress in black,
why you never see bright colors on my back,
and why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone.
well, there's a reason for the things that I have on.

i wear the black for the poor and the beaten down,
livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town,
i wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime,
but is there because he's a victim of the times.
