blogger authenticity

this week's friend friday is all about blogger authenticity. to read the answers of some other amazing bloggers, or to sign up for friend friday, head over to modly chic. and let us know, do you think we could be more authentic in our blogging? how?

1. Most readers and fellow fashion bloggers value authenticity in the
blogs they read. How would you describe blog/blogger authenticity?
just be yourself. don't try to be someone different or change who you are for your blog. no one wants that. i like to read blogs because it is fun to get to know that blogger and what they are all about and the things that they love. and i hope that is why people read our blog!

 2. When it comes to your blog how to you infuse it with that true/
authentic feeling?
megan and i really try to stay true to ourselves when writing the blog. we both have different writing styles and we don't try to change that or make it more uniform. we don't edit each other's posts at all. she can post whatever she likes and same with me. we also both write pretty much the way we speak, which i love. when i read her posts i can hear her saying what is written, which is really cool. if you know us at all or have been reading our blog for a while, i think you can really tell which of us wrote which post (although we have recently started signing our names at the end of our respective posts). i have also recently (and i think megan is also working on this) been trying to take more "real" photos of myself for the blog. no more trying to be a model for me. i am not a model and never will be. so i am trying more to just be me in pictures. it is hard though, especially when you really don't like photos of yourself to begin with!

3. Have you stopped following a blog in the last three months? What
made you lose interest?
i haven't stopped following a blog. but i have been reading some a bit less. i lose interest really fast when a blogger doesn't post for an extended period of time. it is hard to keep going back day after day and seeing that same post that they wrote however long ago. eventually i will just stop checking. also, i follow so many blogs, plus i find so many new blogs that i love every day. it is really hard to keep up with all of the reading! so i have a few i check every day, a few i check for sure every week, and the rest i get to when i have extra time.

4. We can't communicate effectively on our blogs, something we don't
live in real life... what are some ways you try to live an authentic
life?
just like in question #1, be yourself. both megan and i don't try to pretend to be someone we're not. you can't please everyone, so you might as well make sure you please yourself, and hope at least a few people end up liking you!

5. Give a shout-out... Which bloggers do you think are truly genuine
and why?

there are a few local bloggers that i love...maybe it's because i can read the "minnesota nice" in their writing voice. salvaged strawberry is great...we happen to know amanda and know that she is one of the most genuine people around. also, emily from born with horses, jill from spoils of wear, and anna from a banana medley all speak (write) with a very genuine and sweet tone. tieka from selective potential is also very down to earth and honest in her blog. but really, there are so many to choose from.

i hope you all have a great friday and an even better weekend!

xoxo, nora bird
