school's out for summer

well it's (almost) official. i am going to be the mother of a first grader. it was obviously crazy for me to see my baby boy off on his first day of kindergarten, but there is something even more surreal about him starting first grade. i don't know what it is. like it's really official this time. no more messing around. he legally has to be in school for a full day for the next 12 years. yowza! to celebrate his last day of kindergarten, i pulled out all the stops. well, not all of them, but i did whip cream, by hand. ok, not by hand, i used a mixer. but come on, i whipped cream at 6 in the morning. there's something to be said for that, no? i made him a batch of pancakes with strawberries, blueberries and whipped cream. i then proceeded to just eat spoonfuls of the cream. is that gross? sorry.

on his first day of kindergarten, he woke up with a swollen eye. we thought he might have pink eye and i cried because i thought he would have to miss his very first day of school. chris kept saying, "well if he misses it, then tomorrow will be his first day of school." i wasn't having any of it. turns out he had some weird allergic reaction to a bug bite, and he just ended up looking like a bruiser on his first day. maybe that worked in his favor!

sorry for the kiddo post. i personally like to see little glimpses into other blogger's lives, so maybe you do, too. sometimes a day is just too good to not blog about it. and i'm so proud of my little guy that i wanted to share with you all!!
